Once you start hearing the word ‘pumpkin’, you know it’s almost time for football. The 2021 NFL season kicks off at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday, September 9th @ 8:20 EDT with a fun matchup between the Cowboys and the Buccaneers. That’s about one week from now, meaning that if you haven’t started you offseason research yet, I have no idea what you’re doing. Thankfully, I’m here to provide with you with my official 2021 tiered positional PPR rankings to get you all caught up.
Typically, people use overall rankings to get a general idea of where players/team defenses are being drafted. Well, that’s not what I’ve created here. These rankings are strictly positional rankings and only include the four main offensive positions (QB/WR/TE/RB). Why? Because (1), less and less leagues are utilizing the kicker/defense positions and (2) positional rankings provide us with a more comprehensive understanding of player’s values.
For example, in a typical ranking list, you would see a long list of players for each position. However, when you decide to reference this list, you might have difficulties choosing between two players who are ranked closely. Whereas in a tiered positional rankings list, those two players will likely be sitting in the same tier. As a result, it’s now easier for you to decide who to draft. More than that, you likely feel comfortable drafting either player because they were both in the same tier. In short, I believe creating tiered positional rankings is the most beneficial way to create rankings.
Now, you’ll likely bump into some surprises while going through these rankings, but everything you’ll see has been heavily researched and pondered over. As the season progresses, I’ll be periodically updating these rankings to keep them fresh.
