NewLifeFantasy Week 9 Fantasy Football Streamers
We’re officially through the first 8 weeks of the season! Anyone here 8-0? 0-8? Whether you’re undefeated or haven’t graced the win column – DON’T GIVE UP! Even if you’re out of the playoff picture, you should finish strong and try to play spoiler for other teams.
In this article, I’m going to highlight 2 top streamers per position in deep and shallow leagues along with BONUS streamers to consider if the highlighted players are already taken in your league. Let’s begin!
QB
Shallow League Streamer (Owned in less than 60% of Yahoo Leagues)
Derek Carr (36% owned) vs Lions
Originally, we had Minshew as our top streamer this week, but his ownership crept JUST over 60% so we had to pivot. Derek Carr is a GREAT pivot this week against the Lions at home. Over the last two games, Carr is averaging 289 yards passing and 2.5 TDs. Those are MORE THAN serviceable numbers, and you should ride the hot hand against a Lions defense that just allowed Daniel Jones to rip them to shreds to the tune of 322 yards and 4 TDs.
Other QBs to consider streaming: Sam Darnold (23%) at Mia, Daniel Jones (24%) vs Dal
Deep League Streamer (Owned in less than 20% of Yahoo Leagues)
Matt Moore (8% owned) vs Vikings
The QBs owned in less than 20% of Yahoo leagues include: Moore, Rudolph, Kyle Allen, Fitzpatrick, Keenum, and Brandon Allen. Needless to say, Moore is the BEST of that brutal crop. Despite the tough matchup against the Vikings, Moore has a bevy of weapons surrounding him that will make it easy for him to post low-end stats. He’s been adequate as the replacement for Mahomes, and if you’re in a DEEP league and desperate for QB help, throw him out there and cross your fingers.
Other QBs to consider streaming: Ryan Fitzpatrick (5%) vs NYJ, Mason Rudolph (13%) vs Ind
RB
Shallow League Streamer (Owned in less than 60% of Yahoo Leagues)
Jaylen Samuels (54% owned) vs Colts
All reports indicate that Samuels will be making his return this week at home versus the Colts. Conner is questionable to play this week with a shoulder injury, so Jaylen Samuels should be rostered in all formats and started just in case Conner misses Week 9. It’s possible that Conner gives it a go despite his ailing shoulder, but even if he plays, he will be limited. Jaylen Samuels will be relied upon to AT LEAST split the workload in the Pittsburgh backfield. If Conner ends up missing Week 9 FIRE UP Samuels as a Top-10 play at RB this week.
Other RBs to consider streaming: Mark Walton (45%) at Pit, Chris Thompson (27%) at Buf
Deep League Streamer (Owned in less than 20% of Yahoo Leagues)
Kalen Ballage (9% owned) vs Jets
The RBs owned in less than 20% is a joke. If you’re completely desperate, take a shot on Ballage as the preferred goal-line back for the Dolphins. He can score you anywhere from 1-7 points on any given week. If you HAVE to start him this week, put him in your flex and cross your fingers.
Other RBs to consider streaming: Tra Carson (5%) at Oak, Rex Burkhead (11%) at Bal
WR
Shallow League Streamer (Owned in less than 60% of Yahoo Leagues)
Jamison Crowder (51% owned) at Dolphins
Crowder has struggled for the past two weeks against the Patriots and Jaguars, but better times are ahead this week against the tanking Dolphins. You couldn’t ask for a juicier matchup against the Dolphins, and the Jets have something to prove after losing the last two games in epic fashion. Expect Crowder to be targeted early and often and to provide enough catches and yards to be trusted as a solid WR3 in both PPR and Standard leagues.
Other WRs to consider streaming: Danny Amendola (23%) at Oak, Devante Parker (30%) vs NYJ
Deep League Streamer (Owned in less than 20% of Yahoo Leagues)
Anthony Miller (12% owned) at Eagles
Since Week 5, Miller has been the model for low-end consistency. Over his last 3 games, Miller is averaging over 6 targets, 4 receptions, and 61 yards per game. Those are serviceable DEEP league numbers and can be used if you are desperate at WR or FLEX.
Other WRs to consider streaming: Preston Williams (12%) at Pit, A.J. Brown (19%) vs Tam
TE
Shallow League Streamer (Owned in less than 60% of Yahoo Leagues)
Jonnu Smith (29% owned) at Panthers
If Walker misses another week, look for Jonnu Smith to be a Top-10 option this week at TE. He’s a MONSTER (6’3 250lbs) and has the trust of Tannehill. If Walker DOES come back for Week 9, don’t be afraid to pivot to one of the options below.
Other TEs to consider streaming: Chris Herndon (32%) at Jax, Darren Fells (48%) vs Jax
Deep League Streamer (Owned in less than 20% of Yahoo Leagues)
Noah Fant (12% owned) vs Browns
Despite Fant failing to live up to his gaudy rookie expectations, Fant has still been given every opportunity to succeed in this offense by seeing a lot of snaps and routes ran. If you’re desperate, take a shot on Fant with new QB Brandon Allen at the helm for the Broncos. There’s a possibility that Allen leans on Fant as his safety valve.
Other TEs to consider streaming: Jack Doyle (16%) vat Pit, Mike Gesicki (3%) vs NYJ
DEF
Shallow League Streamer (Owned in less than 60% of Yahoo Leagues)
Seahawks (59% owned) vs Buccaneers
The Seahawks have been a Top-15 fantasy defense this year, and they get a JUICY matchup at home against a struggling Winston. Look for the Seahawks to cause a turnover or two early in the game forcing Winston to play from behind where it’s possible he makes a few more mistakes by games end.
Other DEFs to consider streaming: Cowboys (41%) vs NYG, Eagles (56%) vs Chi
Deep League Streamer (Owned in less than 20% of Yahoo Leagues)
Giants (10% owned) vs Cowboys
This is purely a desperation play. The Giants have been a Top-12 fantasy defense this year, and they keep getting the job done consistently much to everyone’s surprise. If you have to start the Giants, let’s hope Daniel Jones makes this a competitive game and Dak turns the ball over once or twice.
Other DEFs to consider streaming: Redskins (5%) at Buf, Lions (10%) at Oak
K
Shallow League Streamer (Owned in less than 60% of Yahoo Leagues)
Zane Gonzalez (48% owned) vs 49ers
Gonzalez is now tied with Zuerlein for the MOST points scored by a kicker in fantasy football. What?! I’ve been banging the drum for Zane all season, and it’s time to make him universally owned. Until that happens, he’ll keep showing up on this list someway or another until his ownership creeps over 60%.
Other Ks to consider streaming: Joey Slye (57%) vs Ten, Josh Lambo (58%) vs Hou
Deep League Streamer (Owned in less than 20% of Yahoo Leagues)
Nick Folk (0% owned) at Ravens
Any kicker that has the opportunity to kick for the Patriots should ALWAYS be considered as a streaming option. The Ravens defense is currently ranked 25th in fantasy, which is a far cry from what we’ve seen from them in years past. We expect Folk to get at least 3 PAT opportunities to go along with 1 or 2 FG attempts.
Other Ks to consider streaming: Austin Seibert (2%) vs Den, Eddy Pineiro (2%) at Phi
