Fantasy Basketball Dynasty: Victor Oladipo Outlook

Managing a team in Fantasy Basketball Dynasty Leagues can be challenging. There are many different strategies to look into including High Risk/Reward players. Risk Players can also be known as “Injury Prone” players. Fantasy Draft Value can either be too high or too low. Sometimes it’s worth taking a risk, but at what cost?

In this article, we will talk about Victor Oladipo’s Dynasty Basketball Outlook. We will also look at his Rest of Season Outlook for 2020. We’ll discuss Regression, Progression, Team, Former Pacer Members, and Buy or Sell.

Fantasy Basketball Regression

Victor Oladipo Age (27) has started slow this season coming from a quad injury. A few of years ago (2017), Oladipo gave TOP 10 Production in 9 CAT Leagues. Unfortunately, his production is nowhere remotely close to that now.

His current ADP Ranking is 377. Yikes! Of course, he gets a pass because he has been absent for a whole year. Oladipo ruptured his quad tendon on January 23rd of 2019. He regressed to a TOP 53 player that year (2018-2019) following his TOP 10 Season. The assumption was that he would not give first-round value in return last year. What diminished most of his value for the 2018-2019 season was his Steals and FG%.

The trend of Oladipo’s Steals and FG% has taken another regression this year. He is shooting a putrid 32% and 0.6 steals a game currently. Can we expect him to improve?

Can We Expect Dynasty Fantasy Basketball Progression?

Oladipo should make improvements following the all-star break. It’s difficult to see a player of his caliber play this bad. He has made small improvements. Over his last three games, he is shotting 46%. His minutes have been trending in the right direction.

Injury Risk Players From The Pacers Past Danny Granger & Paul George

A blast from the past Pacer is 2013 Danny Granger. He was capable of filling up buckets, shooting a career 38% from 3-point land. He was once an All-Star, but Patellar Tendinosis held him back from furthering his career. We highlight the Year 2013 because he was never the same after surgery. He was Age 29 at the time.

Paul George in 2014 had a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula. It was a horrific injury under the hoop. Some thought his career could be potentially over. George made a comeback the same year. He didn’t look right in his return, and most faded him in 2015 fantasy drafts because of it. He went on to play the most games in his NBA career (81).

Bottom Line

After an injury, it’s hard to determine if a player can come back the same, better, or worse. Dwayne Wade had a similar injury in 2007 to Granger, but he was able to overcome it. Danny Granger disappeared from the NBA quickly due to the rise of Paul George.

Pacers currently have one of the most underrated lineups in the league. Jeremy Lamb slides to the bench with Dipo inserted back in the starting lineup. Oladipo’s Usage has been up and down so far. Pacers are still figuring out the ball usage between Sabonis (24.7), Brogdon (19.8), and Oladipo (22.2). TJ Warren (23.2) hasn’t taken a hit. Myles Turner’s usage decreased (10.8). Per Advanced stats, this is the analysis of a 3 game, 26 Minute sample size.

Time To sell or Time to Buy?

First of all, it’s never too early to sell a player or buy a player in fantasy. I have been one of the biggest Oladipo Fans out there, but I’m a little skeptical. He relies a lot on his athleticism but has worked on a new step-back shot. The new step-back shot will help him from going too much in the paint. Maybe you could attempt to sell him in a Dynasty League. I would try to get DeVonte Graham and a First-rounder back for him.

It’s hard to believe Oladipo will ever be the first-round value again, but maybe he gets back around 3rd round value. We don’t expect that this year, but potentially next year. Hopefully, he proves me wrong and has a coming-out party like Paul George did after he suffered his gruesome injury. Redraft and Points leagues owners may have to ride this out to see what happens.
